Building on the success of Carlton cycles, Raleigh Special Products was set up by Gerald O'Donavan in the mid to late 1980s to produce niche products like high end, hand built bicycles.
These were bicycles made from Titanium, or Reynolds 853 steel, with Shimano Durace or XTR drivetrains and Rock Shox forks and Magura hydraulic brakes.
Raleigh Special products division has always been about leading design, innovation and technology, Raleigh at its highest level. New materials and bonding techniques were used in designs as well as sourcing the very best components from around the world. The Raleigh flagship in the 1980s and 1990s.
